A fresh start

I posted the mockup above a few months ago, and the logo on the front of the bag and cup read A Little Hut. That business is now closed. It was open, officially, for 18 years. I can't even believe I just typed that number. It doesn't seem real-time flies. 

I started A Little Hut with handmade cards, moved on to block printed cards, and finally landed on hand-cut illustrations. Then, when my wrists couldn't take Xacto knife work anymore, the cutting machines came into existence. What a fantastic tool. It opened new doors, and my business has revolved around it ever since.

I've had a full-time job for the last nine years (I still do), and those who have stuck around have seen how that has affected my shop, posts, etc. Some days I just haven't had the energy to keep working and creating at home. I've attempted several comebacks, but I haven't been consistent. The truth is that I don't think I was genuinely ready — until now.

I feel a new surge of energy and creativity, and I want to ride this wave as long as possible. But, of course, it helps that my kids are in college now, and I get more time to play. 

A couple of new things

I've decided to use my full name for my business name. A Little Hut was great for what I needed when I first started, but I wanted something more fitting this time. The more I thought about it, the more I thought my name would suit me perfectly. 

I've been talking about videos for a long time. It's time to stop talking and move on to the doing. I will be posting videos of my most complex projects and others about tips and tricks I think you'll find helpful. They will be in English and Spanish — I'm excited about this. I'm a fluent speaker in both languages, so why not work in both? 

Products I will offer 

My SVGs will be my primary product for now. But I plan on expanding the designs I offer in other markets (Society6, Creative Market, iStock, Spoonflower), and I will add some original wall art pieces from time to time. I don't miss the post office, but I miss knowing that I'm sharing my original handiwork with some of you.

If I had a brick and mortar shop, I'd be greeting you at the door with a cup of something warm to drink (or cool — hello, hot Houston summer!), you'd see my artwork on the walls, and you could be walking out with a goodie bag like the one above. Maybe one day. For now ...
